Construction on 1769 Mohawk Way

Design & Construction Administration: Jennifer Kinder, Architect; Grunt Labor: Kinder, VE

June 26, 2009 Update

Poured the garage level this week - no blowouts, no sherpas harmed, just strong, straight walls.

Many thanks to Darren & Jill, and Dan, Paul & Rob from McCullough Construction.

And of course, much LOVE for our wonderful architect who somehow managed to keep us all on track and headed in the right direction.

This is our June 1, 2009 update

This month we were very fortunate to have a visit and construction assistance from the famous architects Yoshi and Osamu from FFKR Architects, who helped cut and set the steel for the concrete beams over the garage openings.
Thanks Guys!

We also received MORE great help from our good friend Jerry Lake who is always good for a laugh and a dog treat.  He drives 45 minutes each way from his home in Tooele to help us on the weekends (when he isn't doting on his dear wife, Cathy).

Emy planted some fine greenery in the parking strip which we are enjoying immensely.  She also hand delivered some cuttings from her home in Wisconsin that are coming along nicely.

A snake came to visit us one night.

In the last photo, Jenny is adding the last block to the 8th above-ground course of block.  This is the last continuous course before the BIG POUR!  "Just a little more bracing . . ." and we'll be pouring 70 cubic yards of concrete.

This is our April 28, 2009 update

This week we were very lucky to have Emy Andrew provide us with
new greenery, endless saw cuts, organization, support and great company.
Thanks Emy!

We also received great help from our good friend Jerry Lake who is always
good for a laugh and keen insight.  We look forward to seeing him more often.

And lastly, thanks to Mr. Anthony Franklin who came for 3 days
worked hard and disappeared as mysteriously as he arrived.

Flowers are the forsythia and peach blossoms in our back yard.

Cici is the boxer who came to visit us for a couple of days.
We miss her and hope she'll come back for a visit some time.

Delivery of the steel wall supports, 6", 8" & 10" ICF block.

Many thanks to our hired help Juan and Martin.

Big THANKS to our friend in Logix, PAUL, who loaded and unloaded this truck full of block weighing thousands of pounds, SEVERAL TIMES, while we mucked around trying to get started, THANKS PAUL!!

Thanks to our neighbors Rick and Trent (Spider Man) who helped us unload even more block at our Beverly house.

Thanks to Darren, Jill and of course Jayden, who have been instrumental in getting our first few courses in place.

And of course, not enough can be said about the tireless efforts of our Chief Architect who keeps us all on track and headed in the right direction -
  Thanks JENNY!
